Gurmit’s teaching career has taken him many places. He travelled to remote northern Saskatchewan, where he learned Woodland Cree culture and developed an understanding of the issues facing Indigenous communities. He also spent time in South Korea, where he learned that social supports like education and health care help build strong communities.

He knows it makes a difference when governments invest in the services families both need and deserve. He has seen working people and their families struggle during the housing and affordability crisis and he is determined to help Jagmeet build a future that benefits everyday Canadians – not the corporations and billionaires that have already profited too much.

As your Calgary Heritage MP, Gurmit will fight to make life more affordable and more sustainable for hard-working families. He will push for action on the issues that matter to people here: reducing the cost of prescription drugs, building affordable housing, and tackling the climate emergency with a plan to create well-paid jobs.
